Morning Activity
A relaxing morning at Shake Ridge Ranch, surrounded by gorgeous vineyards and untouched nature. Leave the daily hustle and bustle behind, and step into the tranquil pace of Yoga in the Vineyard. The hour long session will be followed by a Farm to Fork lunch paired with Yorba Wines. (Bad weather option possible.)
Seafood with White, Beef with Red. Oh, Hell NO! Learn how to create delicious, non conventional food and wine pairings with some fun guidelines and simple steps. Amador has long been known for its Zinfandel, Barbera and Rhone varietals, but did you know we also have a large selection of whites grown and produced here? If you’re one of those ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) kind of people, this experience is for you! Explore lesser-known white varietals such as Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and others.
If Zin is King in Amador, then there are a host of Italian princes (and princesses) waiting to take over the thrown. Leading the charge is the Italian house of Vino Noceto. Join the folks at Noceto for a head to head throw down of their Italian stallions agains the same varietals produced in Italy.
Get to know Amador's rich history in this active Adventure exploring backroads. Native American grinding rocks and legendary lore will captivate history buffs. Step inside the earth as you explore the Black Chasm, a natural cave with stunning formations. Soak in the rich California history of Volcano population 103. Lunch with local wines at the Volcano Union Pub + Inn.
Afternoon Activity
A meandering hike through the hills and dales of our vineyard, pausing to taste the wines along with food pairings. Discuss wine growing, sustainable farm practices and the ranch's history. (Bad weather option possible.)
Amador County is home to the oldest documented Zinfandel vineyard in North America. Dating back to the 1860's this vineyard produces some of the most layered and complex Zinfandel anywhere. Experience the private vineyard close up, along with tasting various vintages from the three Amador wineries that produce wine from the seven remaining acres.
Amador County is quickly becoming the Barbera capital of the US if that capitol has founding father, it would be Dick Cooper. Learn about the history of Barbera in Amador from the Man himself. Then experience how fruit from the same vineyard can become so many different wines in the hands of various wine makers.
